All State Orchestra Requirements
Auditions for all state orchestra take place in September and are open to 7th & 8th grade students. If you are interested in preparing for all state you will need to work on the materials over the summer. I am including a link to the criteria below for those that are interested.
All State Orchestra Requirements
5/21 8th Grade Awards Ceremony Call time for 3rd Period is 5:15p.m. at FSC Branscomb. We will be finished at 6:05p.m. If you are receiving an award you will have reserved seating. If not, you can meet your parents at the circle drive for pick-up.
5/23 & 5/24 Group Song Performances in Class.
5/24 All school instruments need to be returned by 5/24/19. We will be doing inventory and instrument cleaning the last week of school. If you need to rent an instrument for the summer see Mrs. Baker for information.

Concert Week is here! Make sure that you are in your assigned seat by the call time. Dress code for the concert is:
Beginning Orchestra wears black pants and their orchestra shirt.
Intermediate and Advanced Orchestra wear their formal concert black.
Tuesday, May 14 is concert day! Get instruments before 3:00p.m. and meet at Fl Southern by 5:45pm for tuning and a quick run thru.
Wednesday, May 15 Spring Concert Written Reflection
Thursday, May 16 begin final music project
Monday- Work problem sections of music;
After School Rehearsal until 3:40p.m. for 3rd and 8th period students;
Key Signature Worksheets- Introductions perfected on every song and seating assignments
Wednesday- Run-Thru and tweak any problem spots
Tuesday, May 14, 2019 6:30p.m. Spring Concert!
Florida Southern College Branscomb Auditorium
The Spring Concert is at Florida Southern College in Branscomb Auditorium. The concert begins at 6:30p.m. and students must be there early for tuning and warm-up. Orchestra Students need to be tuned and in their assigned seat no later than 5:45p.m. This is a required event for all chorus and orchestra students. Students have assigned seats and are required to stay for the entire concert and sit in their assigned seat. Orchestra students must leave their cases in the car. Please bring your instrument &music. Leave phones, purses and jackets in the car.
Their attendance and performance is a major part of their grade. The concert is free to the public and the doors will open for seating at 6:15p.m.
Dress Code for Concert
Chorus, Intermediate Orchestra & Advanced Orchestra
Concert Black Attire (purchased through the music department), Close-toed black dress shoes
No Necklaces, Bracelets or distracting earrings or hair accessories
?Beginning Orchestra Students wear their orchestra t-shirt and black dress pants.
Students are expected to stay for the entire concert. Students are graded on their concert participation and their behavior before, during and after the concert.
· Check in with their assigned Chaperone and go to their assigned spot.
· Sit Quietly for Warm up and during the concert
· Stay with their group for the entire concert
· Be active listeners when others are performing
Students will NOT:
· Not bring cell phones, purses or jackets to their seat for the performance
· Talk while others are performing or laugh at other performing groups
Friday- Begin EOY and A Major Scale testing
4/28 Bowl-A-Thon Orange Bowl Lanes 2-4p.m.
4/29 After School Rehearsal until 3:55p.m. required for 3rd & 8th period students
5/1 Concert Reminder Paper signed is due (click here if you need to print another)
5/1- 5/3 Complete your playing quiz on The Avengers 1-29 ( need to use a metronome and have it up to tempo 3rd & 8th period
5/1-5/3 2nd period Test on Caribbean Delight 21-end.
5/6 Final After School Rehearsal of the year( if needed for concert prep). will end at 3:45p.m.
5/14 Spring Concert Florida Southern College 6:30p.m. Call time is 5:45p.m.
Target: Organize music for spring concert and finish refining music; student spotlight auditions are Wednesday-Friday this week!
Target: Identify accidentals and apply them to my music.

3rd & 8th Cello Sqadron 2nd half on the 4/4 meter section
Talent Show tickets go on-sale on Tuesday, April 16 from 7:20-8:00a.m. and are $5.00.
Talent show is on Thursday, April 25th from 2:45-4:00p.m.
Bowl-A-Thon is Collection #1 is Wednesday, April 17th and Bowl-A-Thon is on April 28 from 2:00-4:00p.m.
Work on Spring Concert Music- Concert is May 14th at Florida Southern College, Branscomb- 6:30p.m. Call time 5:30p.m.
Solo and Ensemble is on Saturday, April 13th! After school practice with accompanists will be on April 3 starting at 2:50-3:35p.m. Those playing a solo are REQUIRED to attend this run-thru for the event. Ensembles are welcome to also come and rehearse.
