Weekly Reminders
Solo & Ensemble After School Practices are 2:45-3:45p.m.  on February 27, March 4, and March12.  Solo and Ensemble is on April 13th at Davenport School of the Arts. Accompanist rehearsal schedules will be set soon.
  •  Work on rhythms and add sixteenth notes & sixteenth rests
  • Work on Bowing technique to solidify point of contact and slurs 
  • Music Focus is: Best of Queen, Pirates of the Caribbean, Viva La Vida for EYS concert, S&E music, Eleanor Rigby
2nd Period

MPA week is here!  Important Reminders regarding rehearsals and concerts are below.
Monday: 
No School
Tuesday: Afterschool dress rehearsal from 3:00-4:00 and is required for those attending MPA. We will  begin rehearsal at 3 in concert attire and have a special guest coming to work on music with you. 
Wednesday:  Sight Read and tweak remaining problem spots
Thursday: Deep tuning, bow rosining and complete run-through of mpa music
Friday: MPA Day!  Students particpating may wear your music t-shirt and jeans to school and then change BEFORE we leave for the event.
Orchestra Music Performance Assessment 2019
Friday, February 22, 2019
Where? Tenoroc High School, 4905 Saddle Creek Rd, Lakeland, FL 33801
Attire? Formal Concert Music attire, black close-toed dress shoes and guys need to wear black socks with black dress shoes. No necklaces, beeping watches or bracelets please.
What to Bring? Music, Instrument and come dressed for the performance.
Transportation? Parents need to pick up their child from the event at Tenoroc between 5:00-5:15p.m. You are welcome to watch our performance and other orchestras in the auditorium while we are in the warm up room. Parents will need to transport student and their instrument from Tenoroc.
The schedule for our MPA Event is as follows:
12:20p.m. Report to the Bus Loop in Concert Attire with instrument, music and belongings
12:30p.m. Leave LCMA and report to Tenoroc High School
1:00p.m. Watch other orchestras perform
2:00p.m. Concession Time (bring $ if you want to buy snacks)
2:45p.m. Bathroom Break
3:00p.m. Tune (in cafeteria)
3:45p.m. We report to Warm Up Room (all people must be tuned before then.)
4:15p.m. Stage Performance (Parents are welcome to attend and watch)
4:30p.m. Sight Reading Room
5:00p.m. Meet us back in the cafeteria for results, pack up & check out.
** Important** Parents will need to pick up their child by 5:15p.m. at Tenoroc High School from the event. We will be ready for student check out at 5:00p.m.
7&8 Grade Students will eat during the 7th grade lunch time and need to be in concert attire by 12:20p.m. and report to the Bus Loop

​Target: Perfect the measures below on our MPA music material; test on dynamics this week all classes and quiz on
Knight's Quest 1-19.

​Knight’s Quest Tempo is 120 is the Quarter Note
  • Mark all dynamics with a number value and highlight the dynamics
  • Tune the beginning and pay attention to the dynamics  1-5 is piano with a crescendo at measure 6
  • Measures 39-44 work on getting the timing together
  • Measures 45-59 tremolo timing isn’t correct so we need to get it together.
 
Little Symphony Tempo is 112 is the quarter Note
  • Check the intonation at 43-48 (some are playing f# and it is a f natural (low 2)
  • Measures 48- Tune and work on equal bows with the down down marking in vln 2-bass part and again at measure 51
  • Measures 52-55 Tune parts with accidental d#
  • Exaggerate the Dynamics throughout!
 El Toro Tempo is Quarter Note is Equal to 150 we will try to work up to (160) Mark the D.C. Al Coda as well as the Coda so that you are in the correct place in the music
  • Bigger Dynamics throughout
  • Bass timing is very important and we keep getting off
  • Measure 20 viola and cello need to work on cleaning the measure and playing together and again at 23
  • Measure 53 is a BIG SLOW DOWN Watch and Mark it so that you aren’t speeding.
  • Measure 57 WATCH! It starts slow and we get faster and back to the original speed at the D.C Al Coda

2/5/19 All County Orchestra All Day Rehearsal and Concert 9-4p.m. Go to Florida Southern bring $5.00 for lunch, pick up at 4p.m. and then the concert is that evening at 7:30p.m. You need to wear formal concert black or black and white for the concert.
2/6/19 Early Release Day
2/7/19 Solo & Ensemble registration form and fee are due
2/8/19 Help Session for MPA during Class
